This is the newest model that electric car maker Tesla has produced, and claims that it will do 500km on a single charge of its 85kWh electric motor.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the USA has tested the new Tesla and the Model S returned a figure of 3.2l/100km on the electric equivalency scale that provides a figure that we can relate to diesel and petrol engines.

Other electric cars around that mark include the Nissan Leaf at 2.8l/100km and the Ford Focus electric at 2.7l/100km. The testing of the Tesla also noted that the vehicle was only able to do around 420km per charge as opposed to the claimed figure of 500km.
