Just as it has done for 13 years, BMW is offering up an exclusive ‘M Award’ for the fastest man in qualifying throughout the MotoGP 2015 season. The prize? A BMW M6 Convertible finished in ‘frozen blue’ running on 20-inch double-spoke rims.
Last year the prize was an M4 Coupe which went to Spaniard Marc Marquez and he’s certainly in contention for this year’s competition, too. Stoner and Rossi lead the ranks with three M Awards each. Lorenzo and Marquez each have two.
BMW’s M Award classification works as follows: 25 points for pole, 20 points for 2nd and 16 for 3rd place. Those of you who watch MotoGP know the BMW X5 M and the BMW M550d xDrive Touring are used as Medical Cars, alongside two S1000RR motorcycles as Safety Bikes.
Marquez currently leads the 2015 M Awards chart with 86 points, followed by Dovizioso (63), Lorenzo (62), Iannone (54) and Aleix Espargaro (43).
