Chinese owned MG has delivered a preview of its latest ‘supermini’ at the Shanghai Motor Show. The MG3 will be aimed at European markets targeting style conscious youngsters wanting a fun, reasonably priced car to own.
From front on it could easily be mistaken for the new Renault Clio, carrying a very similar grill radiating from the central badge. The LED lights at the bottom of the front bumper add a nice touch and thankfully differentiate it from the Renault.
The rear end is the MG3’s best angle, looking very sporty with longitudinal tail lamps and a flat hatch that blends into the diffuser. The design is quite punchy for a car that will likely carry a four-cylinder petrol motor only capable of 77kW.
Speed is not everything though as the 4.0-metre hatch promises to be a handler with great agility and ‘nippiness’. It’s equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox but more details are said to be coming in Q2/Q3 this year.
