The military grade G-Wagon has undergone a facelift from the 2010 version. There are a few subtle body style changes including new flashy LED daytime running lights and new wing mirrors.
Most of the changes have been made to the interior. The instrument cluster and centre console have been completely redesigned. A colour screen similar to that of the B-Class has been installed with full COMMAND connectivity, including internet access.
Other than that it’s business as usual for the brutish offroader. You do now have the option of adding multiple Merc safety features to you G-Class though but you might look a bit out of place pitching up at the local 4×4 meet with Blind Spot assist flickering every time you pass a bush. Then there’s PARKTRONIC and DISTRONIC PLUS systems as well.
Big news for lovers of the 63 AMG placard is that you can now have one on your G-Class complete with the V8 biturbo. Add four more cylinders to that and you can have a G 65 AMG still with two turbos. Fuel economy stats aren’t all that relevant in those two models.
