Pro_cee’d – no one does superfluous punctuation better than Kia, so forgive us for calling the Korean car maker’s latest creation simply Proceed. At least when it came to naming the performance-oriented version, Kia’s marketing team opted for the age-old GT moniker. So here we have it, Kia’s very first hot hatch, the Proceed GT, complete with distinctive quad-cube LED running lamps, red brake calipers, 18-inch alloys and Recaros. Ramming home the performance bent is a new 1.6-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, which produces power and torque outputs of 150kW and 265Nm. Kia claims a 0-100kph time of 7.9 seconds, but not much else. Expect more detail on the new Proceed GT when the car makes its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.
