Taking centre stage at the Beijing motor show on the Ford stand is the new Ecosport.
Ford’s plan to increase total vehicle sales by 50% at the end of 2015 relies significantly on the growth of the small SUV market.
This Ford Ecosport is based on the current Fiesta chassis but will feature Ford’s all new Ecoboost engines. The pick of the range seems to be a three-cylinder 1-litre petrol unit putting out 88kW and 170Nm. Rivals to the Ecosport include the Nissan Juke, upcoming Opel Mokka and Daihatsu Terios.
The Ecosport is assembled in China explaining Ford’s interest in accessing the world’s largest car market.
