Fiat Professional has unveiled the new Fiat Fullback bakkie at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show. The new, medium-duty pick-up will arrive in single-cab or double-cab body style configuration in South Africa in 2016.
The Fullback will be launched in the third quarter of 2016 in South Africa with a line-up that includes Single-Cab with a 4x2 drivetrain and Double-Cab with 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains.
All versions of the Fullback have a maximum height of 1780 mm and are up to 1815 mm wide with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The length varies depending on the configuration - 5155 mm (Single Cab) and 5285 mm (Double Cab). Also the length of the cargo compartment changes - 2265 mm (Single Cab) and 1520 mm (Double Cab). The payload capacity, according to the configuration, comes up 1100 kg.
Locally the Fullback bakkie will be available with two engine options - a 2.5-litre diesel with a power output of either 100kW or 131kW and a 2.4-litre petrol engine that delivers 97kW. All engines feature five-speed manual transmissions.
The Fullback is Fiat Professional's first contender in the medium-duty pick-up truck segment in the EMEA region, which totalled 675 000 units in 2014 representing 23% of total sales in the LCV segment. All Fiat Professional products are sold and serviced through selected Fiat dealerships countrywide. Further details of the South Africa vehicles will be made available closer to the launch in 2016.
