Ferrari is preparing to take its latest special 458 – this time called the 458 Speciale A – to a loud unveiling at the Paris motor show.
The new limited edition (the A stands for Aperta or ‘open’ in Italian) is the most potent Spider in Ferrari’s arsenal. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated V8 producing 445kW and 540Nm of torque at 6000rpm. Ferrari reckons it will cover the 0 – 100kph dash in a mere three seconds. It laps Fiorano in 1min23.5sec
In addition to its fearsome firepower, the Speciale A also features an aluminium retractable hard top, which goes from open to close in 14 seconds and helps to keep the weight gain over the Speciale coupe to just 50kg.
Ferrari calls the 458 Speciale’s body ‘performance oriented’; we like the yellow with blue race-inspired livery, the five-spoke forged alloy wheels and the bespoke blue carbonfibre trim for sections of the dash, door panels and transmission tunnel. The 458 Speciale A will be limited to 499 die-hard Ferrari acolytes.
