Chery stamped its authority as one of China’s leading motor manufacturers by showcasing several examples of its ambitious forward thinking at the recent Shanghai Motor Show. Apart from the firm’s current nine models, Chery showed three exciting concept models, the α7, β5 and @ANT. These concepts are in-house developments and tie in with the new company slogan “Tech Chery.”
Chery’s third generation ACTECO engines were on display. These engine’s comprise the latest iAuto core technology platform – the α7 concept version of the Chery M16 sedan will incorporate this new technology. Three aspects encompass the iAuto core technology, the first being the latest ACTECO “Intelligent Efficiency Powertrain System”, the CLOUDRIVE “Intelligent Cloud Entertainment System” and CHERYSMA “Intelligent Balancing System” which takes customer feedback into account for future models.
The β5 is an SUV vehicle that balances good aesthetics and advanced technology. It is the forerunner of a production derivative, the T21. Both the α7 and β5 concepts demonstrate the latest engines and transmission systems, which include a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine developing 136kW of power and 220Nm.
The third concept vehicle on display was the @ANT, a revised version of the individualised urban transport vehicle first shown at the Beijing Motor Show in 2012.
