Completing the 1 Series range BMW has introduced a three-door 1 Series, to go with the current 4-door hatch on sale. The first M version has also made an appearance in the M135i but the biggest change is probably the introduction of xDrive (BMW talk for four-wheel drive).

As with the current 4-door you’ll get all the standard engines with the inclusion of a 114i, a 75kW petrol engine that will kick off the range. The range of petrols and diesels go right through the line-up concluding with the M135i, the three-litre straight six turbo that BMW has managed to eek another 10kW out of taking it up to 235kW. Then they’ve added some M parts to the suspension and given it an optimized aero kit for added downforce and unique looks. BMW has quoted 5.1 seconds to 100kph for the manual six-speed and 4.9 seconds for the eight-speed auto.

The M135i will also be available in the 4-door edition and for the first time will be available with xDrive, as will the 120d.
