First official images of the Alfa Romeo 4C have been published and you can expect that the Italian brand will go large with this rear-wheel drive two-seater. This 4C will mark the brand’s return to America.
Setting its sights on Porsche and the Cayman in particular, the 4C is mid-engined, harnessing an all-aluminium progression of the 1750 turbo petrol engine. No power figures have been divulged but Alfa claims a power to weight ratio of 4kg/hp (5.3kg/kW). This is particularly interesting as the initial reports were that the car would have 175kW as procured from the Alfa Giulietta Quadrifoglio. This would mean that the 4C would weigh in at just 930kg.
They have mentioned extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre and Aluminium, but not much detail as to what extent. The central tub is carbon fibre and this is left bare in the interior for the driver to enjoy and no doubt brag about.
Alfa’s very own twin clutch TCT gearbox will do duty in the 4C as will the DNA system seen throughout the Alfa range. Special for the 4C will be a ‘Race’ setting on the DNA switch that will enhance the driving experience on track.
The Alfa Romeo 4C will make its official debut at the Geneva motor show in early March.
