Yowzers! What’s come over Toyota?
The Japanese automaker has shown its Corolla Furia Concept at the 2013 Detroit show and, after the new Auris, it is the strongest indication yet of the next-generation Corolla’s styling.
The design study is said to build on the brand’s product development priority to develop more dramatic-looking cars.
The Furia is apparently designed around an ‘Iconic Dynamism’ theme and is intended to be more provocative with a long wheelbase, short overhangs and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The design also includes a sloped roofline, flared wheel arches, blacked-out grille treatment and matching LED head and tail light clusters. Carbon fibre accents are used in the wheel wells, on the rocker panels and the rear valance and, as a final touch, the Furia’s detail includes an ornate tailpipe.
Toyota SA also confirmed the next-generation Corolla will not make its local debut during 2013.
